brief description of my house back den - we moved from kl to one of this single story terrace houses when i was around 5 and ours was the corner lot. and right in front of my house is a field full with semak samun (the size of a football field) with all kinds of creature hiding inside. the grass is tall, and if u r not careful u could easily got cut. and there was a small path, leading down towards the left to another field, twice bigger than the previous one. this field had no grass, more like an abandoned construction site…
there was this one hot afternoon, Ali came over to call me out for ‘cooking session’, like i previously said, we boil water n grass.. sometimes if we were ‘lucky’, we will have few cacing, some insects, caterpillars n… tadpoles! and tat day was indeed our ‘lucky’ day, we went to the site and managed to found some cacings, and tadpoles from the longkang next to my house. i can’t really believe the fact that we actually did tat often but it is true, tat explains why i hate frogs and worms so much now, had enuf of it and even feel geli just by thinking. but something else happened, when i was looking for a can, i picked up a burned piece of wood and my thumb was swollen almost instantly, i yelled, ran home (around 100m away) n stuck my hand into the fridge. well.. tat really killed my mood to continue playing tat day but Ali didn’t want to stop, from the window, i saw him having fun with the other 2 kids living up the hill.
around 8 at night, i heard mum shouting for dad to come out.. i ran outside and saw the whole field and our site burning.. Lol.. ever see a piece of land full with grass burn? well.. imagine urself. everybody at the neighbourhood started asking questions and we just kept quiet.. knowing that Ali and those 2 had probably didn’t take out the fire after they started it.. damn stupid.. and i was grounded at home and kenot talk to Ali for quite sometime, didn’t even manage to join the kampung tanglung parade during moon cake festival n need to study at home! was really pissed…
