Hunting for wordpress theme

Posted by peanut on Saturday Oct 18, 2008 Under bad stuffs

I had been hunting for a wordpress theme that suit my taste for quite some time already but there is none!

Photobucket

The fact that I tried out more than 10 themes on the testing platform is just so disappointing! Most of them are not coded properly, either having problem with displaying the background color at the bottom of the theme, or problems with saving the comments done by the administrator!

The reason of me wishing to change to a wordpress platform is that:

  1. Their themes enable a comment box under the post, instead of opening another comment window to post a comment.
  2. They have widgets
  3. And I agree that the platform is more powerful, but it is not really THAT powerful when we ‘the know nothing geek’ can’t figure out how to use them! Or we just don’t have time to figure out how to use them!

In the end, it is just a whole bunch of disappointments.

agree, the individual comment box found in wordpress is better… why not suggest this to blogspot? then we can all enjoy this facility! =P besides, you also get to comment in the box found in the same page, how convenient..

      shinyin,

yea.. a lot of people suggested to blogspot and they now have something like that, but it is not as cool as the wordpress ones because this ugly box i use to type the comment is still there! stuck in the middle of my black background!

      Danial,

Thanks for the recommendations. but nothing caught my attentions.. i tried few of them but they are always having 2 big spaces beside the blog… Don’t really like that! Hope i hope i can design one myself! but it is hard and i dun have the time to learn all, dun have the patience as well!

i feel like blogspot is more into casual thingy..wordpress? i think i need to reach certain quota 1st in order to gv it a change.
      wat do u think?

    8. peanut Says:

wordpress also have some free themes same like blogspot. Actually the advantage is that wordpress is more powerful if you know how to alter it, where else blogspot is easier.. You can have a change anytime! but when i was trying the import function on the wordpress installed 2 days ago, they don’t import successfully.. so maybe you will need to abandon your old posts and comments. what a waste!

      chiiliyeow,
As a matter of fact, one need not reach a certain quota to use wordpress. Actually, there are two types of wordpress, one is Wordpress.com and Wordpress.org.

Wordpress.com is good for those who is not hosting their blog. For example, you can register your blog as chiiliyeow.wordpress.com

However, Wordpress.org is for those who are hosting their own domain. I am one of them. =) Those using wordpress.org has better functionality because we can install nice themes, put ads, chatbox and etc.

The good thing is, both are free. It only depends on the nature of your blog or website.
