Dilemma with Apostille?
Posted by peanut on Tuesday Feb 17, 2009 Under as a med studentWhat is Apostille?
Apostille is a certification and authentication of a legal document. It refered to the legalization of a document for international use under the terms of the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents.
Once the apostille is obtained, it is automatically considered ‘valid’ and ‘acceptable’ in all the 98 Hague Convention Countries.
Some small territories or notably some countries also recognise apostille.
Some of the 98 countries that you might be interested:
Argentina
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Belarus (ada ker orang nak pergi)
Brunei
Colombia
Czech Republic
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Great Britian (nih untuk org yg nak ambik MRCP)
HongKong
Hungary
Iceland (lagi 7 tahun study language diorang)
Japan
Latvia
Macao
Mauritius
New Zealand
Russia
Spain
Switzerland
South Africa
Turkey
You can see the full list from this website of www.apostilleinfo.com. The slot of Singapore, India and Indonesia is not marked in the list but as it says, other countries which did not sign the Hague Convention could also possibly recognised this legalization method.
If you are interested to read more about the Hague Convention, this is its official site here and its wiki page here.
Well, as I’m not thinking about any PG enrollment (it would be to early to think) but I the nearest ‘available’ aim to be something better would be to take a shot at MRCP. I checked the application form but it did not state down that whether the Malaysian Embassy chop on our cert will be recognized and considered authenticated or not. And Apostille seems to be a better way of legalization as UK signed the Hague Convention.
I’m getting it I guess. How about you?

p/s: Heard that those graduating from Indonesia have their apostille chop on their certs.

It’s a headache because Russians being fucking Russians, they’ll send you back and forth. Find out the documents which you REALLY need and make sure you have all that they require.
Sometimes they tell you process takes 1 month, sometimes you get a delay to 3. It was hell for us last year getting apostille.
