I bought this camera for myself few days ago. On the day itself I had asked the shop keeper to put in a black and white film and was already snapping away in Moscow.

This is my first time snapping with a film manual camera (works without battery). I don’t really know what aperture is suitable and what shutter speed should be set but I used my fren’s camera as reference. Shoot a picture with the normal point and shoot, and try to take the same picture with this film camera according to the settings decided by the digital camera.

This is also the first time using a Prime lens. It is a f2.8 / 37mm prime lens. I think I love prime lens more than zoom one. Anyway, gotta see how the pictures turned out to be.

I hope most of them end up fine.

Of course I tried different settings and speed as well. But too bad the shop which process black n white film is kinda far. So the row of film is still lying around in my bag.

I had now inserted a color roll into my Zenit 3M ;)

Don’t know it will be a disaster or not but I’m kinda positive. This roll of film will be full of Volgograd pictures, a place where I think I wouldn’t come back in the near future. Will let this be the memory..

well, prime lens always superior than the zoom ones..
as long as the metering is ok, and you followed it, than there are no reason for the picture to turn out bad exposed..make sure the iso/asa rating is matched between the camera and the film you used

cant wait to see your photo..

    3. peanut Says:

i got set the ISO of the digicam to be the same as the film sensitivity. but then the shutter speed still kinda tricky. i read some tutorials saying that the shutter speed would be something close to the number of ISO, in the b&w film case it would be 250-500 but while using the digicam, it usually goes to 60 only.

plus i got snap indoor summore. dunno whether my pics will come out badly exposed or not…

      johnny, haha, i oso can’t wait…

    5. smashpOp Says:

so do you bring a digivam and your film camera out everytime? test shot with digicam n set the film according to the digital one..

    6. Johnny Says:

      how about your aperture setting?
It is really challenging to play with full manual analog camera.

    7. Livewire Says:

Hey, how much was the camera and where exactly in Moscow did you get it?

    8. peanut Says:

smashpop, so far I dunhav a digicam with me. Would just use fren’s camera to help to tackle the correct settings n later on got a bit lazy n jus snap according to instinct. Dun know how it looks like yet. Developing as soon as I’m home.

Johnny, aperture set on lens our. Camera control shutter speed onli.

Livewire, how to tell u leh, u stay in Moscow? Is near kaprotkinskaya metro station n choose the exit with the church on urea left.

    9. Stanley Says:

Yeah man! Prime lens are the BOMB. Your camera looks really cool by the way. Was it expensive? Wah must take lotsa skills to use this camera since you can’t see the pictures right after you take it.

I’m in Nizhny. Did you check out the prices on arbat street?

    11. peanut Says:

      Livewire,
According to my fren Arbat one is more expensive. But I think they have different collections maybe. I didn’t been to Arbat one myself.

    12. earthworm Says:

      Where in Arbat? any landmarks?

    13. peanut Says:

Huh? Arbat? You gotta go moscow map and look for it. Am not sure wat landmark to provide u sorry.

    14. Henrik Says:

I would suggest a Leningrad 4 light meter to go with the 3M - can be had for a few bucks on Fleabay or probably even cheaper where you live.

Did you put Fuji film in the camera (the one that got stuck)? For some reason Fuji films tend to get stuck in FSU cameras. Try Kodak instead.
