2 months!

Time to reflect?

It had been quite some time since I took over the acute beds in my ward. The ‘zakon parnih sluchi’ seriously applies. Basically it means things happen in pairs.

Most of the time I have 2 patients in distress at the same time. It would usually make me go crazy for a little bit. Especially when the family members are around. I do understand that obviously their relative on the sick bed is always the more important one but sometimes judgements gotta be made.

And being in the acute means I have minimal discharges. Most of the time if patients got fit enough, they will be t/o out of acute beds and will be under the care of my ward mates. So I do not have the joy of discharging healthy people, and it is something that I would like to do from time to time.

Today I even jokingly told my nurse, my patients nowadays do not greet me at all! She was a bit puzzled and asked why. I said it is because they always come in with a poor GCS.

Those occasional ‘accidental’ admissions to the acute beds because of an episode of seizure or AEBA or AECOAD would want to get out of that room as soon as possible. One family even requested for a transfer. LOL.

Generally, it is a sad room to take care of. But it does provide the push to always learn more, so that when they come in under my care, I could at least, react competently, and to treat correctly.

It would be my pleasure, to stand between the disease n my patient.

Today my boss said, the MOs are not the primary care. We HOs should be the one more worried about our patients. We see them most of the time. They interact with us most of the time. We are the direct link between them to those ‘higher powers’ like MOs and specialists.

Quite true.

And that includes the nurses who are there to listen to all those moans and complaints.

But my days in this ward is coming to an end. Will be changing to another ward for further practice. Some how I heard that the new ward which I’m going wouldn’t be so happening and not as much procedures. Hopefully they are wrong. If there are no procedures, I’ll hunt for 1! (which means stealing cases from other HOs).

CME presentation coming up. No case to present! Gosh. Cham.. Guess I gotta call back some of my old patients.

Anyway, other than working life, life is pretty much the same except for the recent break up which I would not want to comment on.

Brought my guitar up to Melaka to at least accompany me for a while.

Hmmm..

That’s all for now. Update next time :P
