Penang Food HOCHIAK

Posted by peanut on Friday Aug 21, 2009 Under as a med student, blogin, food log, travel

Don’t know whether I wrote that hochiak correctly or not.

Anyway.

Real time update:

I got my SPA surat perlantikan yesterday. And this morning I finished up with my Surat Akuan Sumpah at the court today. Actually this is the second time I’m there. First time there was to accompany Pei Tong to sumpah to become a dedicated Pharmacist. This time my turn to go alone to sumpah as a good government servant. LOL.

Later on went to Kluang Clinic to do my medical check-up. Kena bully because I’m a future doc. They said next time when i work that time don’t push the patients to them wor. I don’t know what that means but I think I better try not to do something of that kind.

Back to blogging:

Penang food! (All these happened almost few weeks ago).

Clarissa father brought all of us all the way to Tambun for some very famous and fresh seafood.

Photobucket

Prawns. Tak tau apa prawns.

Don’t know what is this but involved a lot of korek-ing, digging, and picking.

Photobucket

A picture of the boss. Thank you very much for the feast. I ate non-stop.

Well, for those who knows me, I don’t eat a lot but when I eat, I can eat very long, thus end up with a lot also. But in the slow fashion.

The other day the dinner was at this nice seaside hawker center.

Photobucket

Thomas with weird pose.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Nice or not?

And the food…

Photobucket

O-chiennnnn

Photobucket

You know what is this lah..

Photobucket

Ok, kinda lazy with food pics. I’m not good with it. Let me research more and start to take nicer pics first. Totally fail in food photography lah.

Anyway, hopefully you guys are entertained. I think my blog readership falling down. Don’t know what to do, so give you all some food pics first. Till next update!

Going KL again.. =)

I gotta say that this was a successful event, organized by my ex-roommate (already ex) Leed Wi and Helmi. Of course with all the needed helps from lotsa comrades and friends. I guess everybody there that afternoon wanted it to be wonderful.

The place wasn’t really big but I guess you can have that cozy feeling that every table you turn to, there is a friend. At least a friend. Hehe.

My moment

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Jul 1, 2009 Under as a med student

Half way through med school, I got inspired by my Oncology teacher and decided that I would try to get into surgery.

On my graduation day, I was kinda disappointed when they start to alter the Profs who are going to give us our degree.

I wasn’t really happy to be getting my degree from the Medical Law Prof. The pictures came out funny. We were both not ready for the shots. It is very clear that we don’t click. Haha.

The other Prof that I got my papers from is - Prof Maskin. Main surgeon of Volgograd City.

Advice for juniors for graduation - this moment of you going up to get ur cert is really very important. Because it happens only once, and it happens for less than 10 seconds. And if you didn’t smile, or look at the different camera, or your cape is not in place and your hat is not correct, or you are standing at the wrong place, your pictures will turn out bad, and you would end up living WITHOUT ‘that moment’.

Luckily my moment is considered good by my standard.

Photobucket

=)

To get something from the main figure in Surgery of this city is indeed very special. Main surgeon of Volgograd, head of department of hospital surgery. Can’t imagine how important is him? Err.. he is the head of grandpa, grandpa’s boss. And to think grandpa is already like immortal to me.. LOL

Even thou I didn’t have the chance to shake my hand with Prof Babaeva (my examiner, Internal med), Prof Zharkin (the famous handsome O&G Prof) and Prof. Lidyaev (Pediatric Prof), I’m happy with this picture.

If I ever become somebody in the future, this pic will follow me into my office. Okayyyy I should stop day dreaming.

I graduated!

Some other pics.

Photobucket

Can see a fatherly figure standing in front of the anak-anak. LOL. Future vice-rector?

Photobucket

All of the Malaysians. My head is too small but hopefully these 2 pics will keep u entertained.

p/s - With this post, I’ll be on a hiatus for 6 days. I’ll be in Moscow and will later land in Malaysia on the 6th of July. Well, hopefully I wouldn’t be abandoning this blog for the whole 6 days, will try to update as often as I can if I have connection. Worse, come to worse, follow my twitt!

A more decent one to cover up all those not so decent ones up there. Hahaha. By the way, our grad gown seriously looks like Harry Potter’s. -__-’

Clarissa came in to my room and said good night. I just noticed that this is the last time she is going to see me here sitting and facing to my com like a nerd. She will be leaving tomorrow evening so this is actually the LAST time she is going to see that scene.

So I went to her room, haha, and this is the LAST time of me going in with Jenna and Clarissa inside.

So many first time and last time :(

My cert updates.

Posted by peanut on Monday Jun 29, 2009 Under as a med student, blogin

A very complicated post.

Bad time passed (I hope so).

Meet up with vice rector today and he gave us a few options. Well, he tried to explain that it is impossible to give us our result transcripts because if the committee come and check, he would be losing his job. We of course understand the depth of the situation.

We tried to convince him that we are going to ‘borrow’ the transcripts (result for the whole 6 years) for a few day so that I could get it to Moscow and get them stamped. He refused.

But later on we came up with a solution. The university is going to send our degree and transcripts by themselves to the embassy and to get them stamped, and immediately sent them back to the university. This is actually quite a good way, since I would be 6 certs lighter (I’m the one who is going to send all the certs to Moscow).

So by 4th of July, hopefully I would have all the documents I need to apply for my HO-ship.

OYY, sorry, you wouldn’t have the chance to be my senior HO if I’m going to get all my certs in time.

Anyway, due to the coming Puasa and Raya, I speculated 3 months of holidays.

Plus, now what the university would want us to do is produce another cert to be attached to the laminated SPM result. We would need to go to the Ministry of Education, issue a cert, get it to Ministry of Foreign Affair for certification, and send it to Russian embassy to translate, and certified by the Russian Notary. Speculate the process to be around 1 month or even faster. And by the moment I send the needed documents to Russia, my Vice-rector is going to let my transcripts off to me thru Russian Resources.

I think all this can be done during July and would be done with around August and latest September.

Anyway, I would be successfully applying to SPA and MMC on July or August and the worst and latest September.

Not too bad I think!

Before today, this thing had already successfully kill off all my holiday mood, I didn’t feel like a med student, I didn’t feel like I graduated, I didn’t feel that there is anything happy about graduating. But it is coming back slowly now. Maybe 10%.

Anyway, wouldn’t expect to be 100% thou. It is still a very lengthy and troublesome way to graduate!

Thanks for those who prayed and care for me. Thanks to Pa that later on tell me not to stress too much. Thanks to Ma that told me not to stress but tell me to do everything fast fast (how can that be possible? LOL).

Guess more happy pics coming up.

Today

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Jun 17, 2009 Under as a med student

Hi, my name is Bing Wui. Ng Bing Wui, and I finished my last exam of med school TODAY.

=)

Huuuu haaaa!

Happy beyond words. Called mum straight when I got home and talked until her phone run out of battery (because she is the one that deserve to know the fastest). Guess she is happy with her son today =)

Let’s talk about exam.

4 Profs viva. I got Prof. Babaeva, head of department of internal medicine from 7th hospital, another woman surgeon who I didn’t know, Prof. Babushrovily head of department of surgery from 7th hospital, and another O&G doc who I didn’t meet before.

Surgery was great. Got a case of ruptured bladder and colon. Luckily I was aware of the existence of cимптом Спижарского. Haha. I’m not going to reveal the answer here. The examiner was happy with my answers. I was happy with my surgical knowledge.

And then, internal medicine! Gosh. I didn’t know what to put actually. I started with hemolytic jaundice, to cold-antibody immunohemolytic disease and blabla.. The answer was Gilbert’s disease. I don’t know how I can forgot about that but I guess I was quite nervous that time. Anyway, the physician didn’t say much since I provided a lot of other possible differentials. Other questions were okay. The description of the case was quite short actually. Practically vomited out all the hematological diseases that I thought was relevant.

For O&G I got a case of Pre-eclampsia. Pretty straight forward. Tried to mumble out the dosing for MgSO4 but he stopped me. Asked some other questions, and asked me what specialty I would be choosing.

Hehehe. Same answer all the time - Surgery.

Guess he was quite disappointed.

4th case was a breast fibroadenoma. But our conversation drifted to I don’t even know where. But it definitely looks like he is peeling off my brain. Anyway, luckily it is a question of Oncology instead of some Psychiatry or Dermatology (something I don’t despise but I . It wasn’t hard to answer his questions. I was inspired by my Oncology teacher 2 years back and still have great interest in this field. =)

There goes my final paper. Haha. Now, I think I got a lot of packing, planning, tidying and playing to do. Show you how much books I’ve got for 7 years in the next post. More pics to come!

Updated at 11.41am - Just got to know the result =) See my face you know lah. Go out makan first!

Day after tomorrow

Posted by peanut on Monday Jun 15, 2009 Under as a med student

I had been waiting for sooooooooooooooooo many years for this 17th of June 2009 to come.

The present me is - I can’t study anymore. No words would register, no books will penetrate my brain barrier. I need oxygen, I can almost taste the freedom (actually I had been free all the time).

Don’t know what I’m talking about lah.

Cool down.

My books. My notes. My hand writings. And my brain. They will never fail me this Wednesday.

Thanks ma and pa for making this possible, financially n mentally. I know it was hard, and I’m a bad ass son who doesn’t wanna be anybody else except a doc.

Em goi sai. Hehe.
