help! inflation!

Inflation is really a killer. From tomorrow onwards, the bus fare for us will increased from 6 rubles to 8 rubles. Monthly student fare would be increased from 250 to 350. Even thou this is not the first time I see them increasing their price, but for the past 5 years, they had increase the fare for 100++%!

I wonder where all the money goes! We are paying more and more each year but the buses are the same, eventually there would be a few new buses but they are so limited and the conditions of the old buses never changed.

During the winter, the doors are not properly sealed, heaters only work in certain compartments and some don’t even work. I remember how numb my feet are during that time.

During the summer, the new buses that they introduced actually have less seats than the old buses! How can they buy something which can perform worse than the current ones?

I just don’t see any point of paying so much, for the same service and commuting condition. They are almost static and no development at all (except few new buses) for the past few years.

Nightmare!

Great, now I’m more broke than ever.

Although this post is written for commuter chronicles but this is really what I feel now!

Refering to my post dated 23 April 2008 OMG! I won!!!, I’m happy to announced that I already got my iPod Touch safely!! Thank you Datepad! Actually it reached Malaysia few days back but I need to wait for my mum to send these pics to me so that I can prove that this is valid. =)

Photobucket

Special thanks to Collin and Shawn, both of them are really friendly and helpful when it comes to this and I actually felt a bit sorry about this as it is really hard to buy something online in Malaysia. But rest assure, sometimes genuine good luck happens and not everything online is scam. If there is a contest, I would say go for it and who knows you might be the lucky one!

Anyway, this is the FIRST time I win something and it is something that I won online! Seriously hope that my youngest brother would not scratch/drop/spoil it before I got home. =)

Photobucket

Well, I felt obligated to tell you guys a bit about datepad.com

Posted by peanut on Thursday Apr 24, 2008 Under blogin, contest, tech

Hahaha.. If not later people think all I have in mind is money onli (ok, only half of it). =)

So, after almost 2 months figuring all these out.. I’ll tell you what I think about all these business..

  1. the contests - you just need to do something.. easy stuffs.. and you stand a chance to win something! Lol. ok, i wouldn’t remind you what i won here. Hahaha.. visit my contest blog here! (actually don’t want you to visit one because if you join meaning my possibility to win is lower d.. grrrr) but anyway, just to share it with you all maaaa.. SEE I’M SO GOOOOD! (meaning you need to view my blog more here often.. kakaka)
  2. the standards one - this is big brother like google’s ads lur.. i know they have got a lot of posts saying how to make them really earn for you but mine is just a personal blog laa, not much of a hot niche so it is just for fun! =)
  3. the why nots - this one is easy to explain. It’s like everyday you go toilet right? Now, people pay you every time you go toilet with the condition that you did something before it (for example like knock once at the toilet door, easy stuffs). These are for example the search funds and etc. Click to view my post about it, I found it quite good!
  4. the gila ads - this one is like, you purposely wanna earn some cash, den you spend sometime sitting in front of the com to click stuffs that is displayed for you.. hahaha.. promoting traffics and blogs laaa.. for example this one.
  5. those big companies - this one got south east asia or international one. but quite hard lah.. i didn’t really get much from them yet but i hope that i will earn more in the future.
  6. the ‘others’ - this one you need to read my contest blog d. hahaha..

I’m not a PRO in this so if you have any new stuffs or great stuffs that you wanna share with me, leave a comment here ok? (especially to those millionaires out there.. lol)

the tram chronicles

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Apr 8, 2008 Under blogin, contest

Tadaaa! Thanks for the idea from Commuter Chronicles to blog about a commuter experience and so here I am.. allow me to present..

The Volgo Trams!

Photobucket

This is one of the 4 main transportation in Volgograd (bus, the marshrutka, trams, bus no.11 = your own legs = walking). As you can see, they are really old (even thou there is only 1 tram here in the pic but actually all of them look almost the same). I believe that they were built after the World War II. How I wish I could tell you the model and the year they were produce.. Anyway, I saw they use the same thing in Prague when I was there last year!

Each day I spend at least 10 mintues on the tram, sometime making 2 - 6 trips per day on it, travelling from one point to another. 6 years here and I had only experienced not more than 5 break downs! This is really good compared to the Putra LRT back home in Malaysia (you got stranded in a driver-less light rail transit in mid air for very long few times a month!). I know, even it is not as good and as new as the other trams or underground train in other cities (those with electronic board mounted everywhere showing the next station name, recorded voice telling you what is the next stop and etc.) but this tram system here in city is very efficient. It has the ‘human-touch’ too, that is..

  • the driver could shout into the microphone demanding you to move faster.
  • she can shut the door just to make fun of you..
  • she can personally goes to the door and slam it if it doesn’t work..

Notice that I used ’she’? Yea.. most trams here are operated by the female (please listen to the song Sheila’s wheel by amateur transplants.. lol!)

Sometimes, we read or do discussions on the tram. The trip from my home to the hospital (for my classes) is almost an hour!!

Photobucket

for privacy reason, need to mosaic-ed up my friends’ faces..

Sometimes I do wonder whether hi-tech machines are always better? We have the absolutely new railway transit system in Malaysia but they are high in maintenance, often break down, the people in it doesn’t know how to give way to older passengers, they don’t ask if they want to get out but use pushing instead.. Comparatively, the Russians has this habit of asking “?? ???????? ?? ????” (meaning are you getting down?), less problems with the tram, they are old but they serve well..

So.. maybe getting older doesn’t mean that you are not competent!
