New gadget!

Posted by peanut on Friday Oct 1, 2010 Under blogin, cool stuffs, photography

Had been wondering whether I should get this or not.

But after thinking too much, impulse kicks in, and that’s it.

Photobucket

Obviously not really free yet to get much picture using this lens but hopefully will fully realize its potential during my friend’s wedding later next week and hopefully it is going to bring good result!

Got 1 day off during 2 weeks of tagging and paid Pepper a visit.

Photobucket

It is damn big now! Damn. It looks more like a kangaroo, jumping from chairs and sofas. It is still true that it likes to stand up (exactly the reason why we chose it despite the other rabbits.

Our water

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Sep 2, 2009 Under cool stuffs

Thinks that water is merely a compound or structure? Think again.

My dad has been telling me about this but it is time that I read it for myself. I found this article here from our-drinking-water.com and would like to share what it is written inside.

Dr. Masaru Emoto found out that when water is frozen to -5 celsius, it forms crystals. This is a known fact. But what people do not know is, different kinds of water form different kind of crystals.

He did an experiment, by using water from the same source but put it into 2 different bottle. One bottle is surrounded by people saying ‘Thank you’ in German (the people do not know that it means ‘thank you’ and another group of people surrounding the second bottle but saying ‘you fool’ in German, without them knowing what they meant.

The water was then frozen to -5 celsius and the crystals analyzed.

And they found out that the bottle surrounded by ‘thank you’ forms beautiful clusters of crystals which is hexagonal in shape while the 2nd bottle, a very ugly, shapeless clusters of flakes.

You can read the whole interview from the site I linked here.

This is kinda like a scientific way of proving that prayers water is indeed different from normal water.

Weird eh. Even water reacts to words and energy.

More crystal pictures here.

Heavy metal musics produces bad crystal while folk music produces flower-like ones. INTERESTINGG.. Should listen to opera more.

End of pediatric surgery

Posted by peanut on Thursday May 7, 2009 Under as a med student, characters, cool stuffs

We had some almost 2 weeks of pediatric surgery in 7th hospital. Taught by one of the most experience doctor in this field, I think I learned a lot, be in medically, personality wise, and the idea towards life. He is a very old doctor, and a very good one as well.

Putting myself in the field of surgery is one of my dream. I had the chance to have this short conversation of asking an old surgeon like him, what he thinks about surgery, and what is his definition of a good surgeon. Surprisingly, he said that the diagnostic part is more important than any other things. Skills could be learned from time to time, if you can’t do the operation properly the first time, try the second time, try the tenth time. But the skill to diagnose and claim that the patient has a surgical pathology must be acquired during med school itself. And that skill shall be refined and updated.

He likes photography. He said that he started taking pictures of his patients since 2nd year of med school. And now each day we just go to class, sit there, and enjoy all the slides and x-rays, everything he took with his camera for the passed 20 years as a pediatric surgeon. We saw crazy stuffs, and he would tell the story of each patient like it happened yesterday, he would remember their names, he would happily said that who is alive and who is not.

He has white hair, yet when he talks about medicine, you see sparks in his eye. It is like he is some medical junkie. New info, new tactics, new technique, and at the same time, would sit down and look back at all the correct AND wrong decision that he had made through out his practice, and remind us that we should remember this and that so that the same thing shall not happen again.

I respect surgeons. But pediatric surgeons are like one step more superior than surgeons. Why? Operating on a 70kg big size man is different to operating a 5 months of baby who just only learned how to sit, or a newborn who just only learned how to breathe. Small veins, fragile skin, small abdomen, even their bones are not fully grown yet.

He sparks my interest in photography like adding NOS to fire -_-’

He even recorded those weird cases that he encountered. Like babies inside a baby, crazy foreign body inside the GIT, all kinds of big size malignancy.

You should see his black and white pictures. They are real classics. And no doubt all his collections would seriously cost a whole lot if he wants to sell it. But I guess it is his life already.

No matter how, I think I’ll start taking more pictures nowadays! Let’s start with a pic of him explaining a x-ray.

One of his many collections. Ok, I don’t think I’ll collect babies but maybe their pictures.

Trichobezoar

Posted by peanut on Wednesday May 6, 2009 Under as a med student, cool stuffs

Gross picture ahead!

The doc happily took out a plastic bag. Long time ago, a girl was admitted to the hospital for feeling a lump somewhere in her abdomen. The mother of the girl took her to the hospital and later on was diagnosed with tumor.

The doc had a short talk with the parents, and found out that the girl has the bad habit of biting her own hair.

Thus the diagnosis - trichobezoar.

Trichobezoar: A wad of swallowed hair. Also called a hairball. Trichobezoars can sometimes be found to cause blockage of the digestive system, especially at the exit of the stomach.

Enjoy

Photobucket

Look at the size. It has the shape of the stomach, and even a bit of the duodenum.

Photobucket

A closer look to make you puke. LOL.

Posted by peanut on Sunday May 3, 2009 Under blogin, cool stuffs, travel

Went out for a BBQ with housemates and the gang. Actually I was quite lazy to go out but since it is my last 2 months here, I should use this in a good way.

They found a spot around the river bank and prepared lotsa food for this outing.

Photobucket

Taken moment after we reached the place. From left, me, charles, gordon, leedwi.

Photobucket

Eat eat, drink drink, burn burn. Charles is getting fat.

Photobucket

Wahahahahaha… Another one to taunt you.

Photobucket

I got caught doing something. Was trying to put my finger into my mouth but I can sense that somebody is shooting me. Claire was obviously very happy that day. LOL.

Photobucket

Tooth story AGAIN

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Apr 29, 2009 Under as a med student, cool stuffs

I gotta skip my pediatric surgery class to go and visit the hot chick dentist today. 10 days ago she gave me something under the temporary filling to ‘kill’ my 2nd molar’s nerve so that I could proceed with the root canal treatment.

I went today, she drilled for a while and I was happy it was not painful at all. She was also quite happy that I was not screaming. I was just there sitting quietly, looking at her green eyes, hmm.. no, I think she wore green contacts today, she has brown eyes.

She put this small metal needle into the root and told me to go up to get an Xray done. After that she used some needles and started clearing up my tooth. At one moment I could see some necrotized tissue being pulled out from my mouth, and later on, even a bit of pus! (If not mistaken, a typical case of peridontitis).

It was a bit painful so she injected me with some anaesthesia.

I was thankful to get her as my dentist. She is unlike the previous one, who would drill at my tooth even when I was paining and begging for him to stop. She read my eyes, stops when my eyes widen, and ask if there is any pain from time to time. She frowns when I’m in pain. She almost looks like she is the one paining instead of me. Sejuk hati aku~ She took care of me nicely, and she is pretty, and I’m going back to her on 11th May. Wooohoooo..

She even joked that we met so often that she could already read my mind without asking.

Cool right?

They should add another criteria to enter dentistry school. Must be pretty!

LOL.

Hopefully I gotta be under her care until I go back. Changing back to the male dentist would be quite a disaster now since I had already experienced heaven. Haha.

Volgames 2009 Part 2

Posted by peanut on Monday Apr 27, 2009 Under blogin, cool stuffs, music

Woke up around 10.30am, went to watch handball with Dhani. Didn’t have any sports picture to show. Later on gotta dump Dhani as I gotta go for some rehearsal so that our performance for that night wouldn’t suck.

Officially dumped Dhani at around 1pm and helped move those instruments to the concert hall for the ‘grand dinner’.

Photobucket

All the guitars…..

Went home to wash up, and rush to the hall again. There will be some 14 slots. Quick a lot right? But actually our turn came rather quickly. We are the last to perform.

Photobucket

Show you guys dikir barat first. I like this a lot! The dance with the Dhoom Machale song is very addictive as well. That song kept on playing in my brain until now. Dhoommmmmm *shake shake shake* Machaleee…

Photobucket

Our turn

Photobucket

Subtle kind of medley + cheer + sing along + claps + out of beat + out of tune + tons of fun + can’t hear what I played + absolute havoc + absolute rock. Can’t see from the photos right? Imagine yourself.

We played Nenjukkul Peidhidum, Jay’s Tornado, Pretty ugly’s Diari Seorang Lelaki and Ella’s Standing in the eyes of the world. All in 10 minutes with bridges and etc. Imagine yourself again.

The performances finished really quick and the grand dinner proceed with food not as grand as expected. I didn’t even touch it. Went home, cooked plov at 2am, and slept rather late that day.

Actually I got a lot to say, but I guess now I’m just rushing to report what happened and am not really in the mood to blog about what I think and etc. Still need rest. Tired!
