Pre-med craze

Posted by peanut on Friday Jun 19, 2009 Under flashback

7 years ago….. (captions are below the picture, look out for it.)

Photobucket

One of the very first excursion.

Photobucket

First Raya in Volgograd. My first time in batik also. Borrowed from John if not mistaken. LOL.

Photobucket

John and mamochka (floor lady). She gave John a sausage for his birthday. Sausage is a big deal okay!

Photobucket

The macho, the macho and the macho. LOL. Forgot what Sarchit sang. Incubus - the warmth I think.

Photobucket

We were generally happy people (except during exam time or when individuals drop down to some serious home sickness). I think for guys we didn’t really miss home much. Too busy in exploring I think. LOOK AT THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER.

Photobucket

And deadly….

Photobucket

Sometimes homo….

Photobucket

Look at that face. Award-winning!

Photobucket

Look at the hair cut, especially the 2nd one on the left. COCONUT.

Photobucket

We were some of the very first to reach here. It wasn’t a really friendly country. People are cold like their weather here. But somehow warmth is found among friends. And other than those small small rooms inside Kim hostel, other places are practically cold.

First winter, first Russian word, first time buying rooster, and a lot of first time story. There were not more than 12 of us if mistaken.

But later on we grew up, and we split up.

Will be posting more pictures =)

Fishing trip

Posted by peanut on Friday May 1, 2009 Under flashback

Was chatting with Mogujing. She talked about having a fishing trip and that brings me back to my first and till now the ONLY fishing trip that I had. And it was also the only visit to the Russian Dacha with a bunch of crazy fellas.

The story is kinda crazy to start with. I was having a walk with Natasha when I was in 2nd year, and here come this guy who is semi drunk and tried to speak to me in English. Usually we would just walk away but don’t know why, he seems to be quite ok so the few of us chatted. He asked for my number, and I gave him.

Few days later on he invited me for a trip. It was summer, and it was their high school graduation holidays. Yeap, they are few years younger than me. I borrowed the fishing rod from Fauzi, and set off with them for some adventure. And it turned out to be fun, crazy and unexpected.

We travelled kinda far into the woods, to a dacha belongs to one of the friend’s grandma. It was a 2 days 1 night trip, we reached there in the afternoon, got the food ready for tonight’s feast and went off to the old dam for some fishing lesson given to me by Andrew. The dam was kinda desserted, and I saw snakes here and there. Grass as tall as me, and mushrooms growing everywhere. It was refreshing - sky, forest, pond and a few crazy russian kids who just graduated from school and a foreigner (me).

I hope I had camera that time. It was seriously fun.

We were drunk ALL the time. We can’t walk straight that we crash into bushes from time to time. Sat in the middle of the path feeding those mosquitoes, jumped into the pond naked.

And the worst thing I ever did is get naked with 6 Russian kids and shouted like hell inside the Russian baniya (sauna). We hit each other with branches from this tree called berioza. And run naked outside during midnight in the cold and BBQ Russian shasliki. LOL.

If you ask me, I wouldn’t be running around with my manhood hanging proudly without protection but that was exactly what I did, actually is what WE did.

Some pictures that we managed to capture with the Russian kid’s camera.

Photobucket

I took this picture. That’s why u can’t see me inside. We had food. Good food and good vodka. Very Russian indeed.

Photobucket

Trying to serenade those guys.

Photobucket

Can see all those bottles?

Photobucket

Look at the fish they caught. Seriously we were so full of energy. They pulled that big fish out from the pond and couldn’t find anything to kill it. It was jumping around like crazy. That smaller guy went ’sumo’ on top trying to stop the fish from jumping back into the pond. The others and I went on top like some human weight or something. Another smarter one tried to find a rock to hit the fish head but there wasn’t anything around. So he stupidly grabbed the beer bottle lying around and tried to hit the fish until it passed out/dead… I don’t know. It was really stupid. Everybody drunk.

Photobucket

Russian shasliki. I don’t know what they use to marinade the stuffs but it tasted like heaven.

Photobucket

Some of the crazy fellas including me.

I ponteng my morning class for this trip. LOL. But no regrets. Hmmm.. maybe I should contact them and see whether such trip is possible now or not. LOL.

typical morning

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Apr 15, 2008 Under blogin, flashback

Gone were those days that I wake up in the morning, wash up, go downstairs where my breakfast will be waiting (half boiled egg and milo/nestum). Then I’ll tie my shoe laces and wait for my dad to finish his breakfast to fetch me to school. Even thou the bag was heavy but I was sent to school by car. I don’t even walk for 400m with my heavy bag per day.

I remember sometimes when I forget to do my homework and realizing it only in the morning (dunno what kind of genius mind), I will lock my self up in the room and try to finish them up and when my dad calls out for me, I’ll try to delay as much time as possible. In the end I’m in time for class but he is late. Despite all those attempts, I still got cane in the school pretty often(for forgetting about my homework). Haha. I was a forgetful kid.

Now, I need to wake up by myself with my blur face and messy hair, wash up, pour milk and nesquik cereal, eat in superman’s speed, grab my jacket, put on my ear phones with my morning fav and rush out into the cold morning. Even thou there are no more problems about getting into trouble for not finishing my homework, I kinda still wish that I have my dad to send me to school again. Yealaaa.. Guys also homesick ok! (but I’m 120% sure I hate my primary school!!)

flashback

Posted by peanut on Sunday Mar 30, 2008 Under blogin, characters, flashback

Was chatting with h2m just now and recalled some of the stupid things I did when I was in 3rd med year doing my elective posting in HUKM. It was my first time doing a posting and of course I’m all nervous. Allow me to recapture some of the moments which I think is worthy for a laugh (at the same time showing how stupid I was last time).

First day of the posting, I was in a new shirt, a pair of black pants and leather shoes. I think that is the most formal look I can manage since 3 years here. Had been wearing jeans and sneakers all the time here, even now! ( Danny was in t-shirt and jeans, even worse) And I think I was safe…

me : Good morning doctor.
doc : Good morning… where are you from?
me : (wondering should I answer where I study or where I live)… Johor.
doc : No, I was asking where you study?
me : Oh.. (sweating..).. in Russia.
doc : Where is your tie?
me : … (kept quiet)
doc : Doctors in Russia don’t wear tie? Don’t you know that you need to wear tie here?
me : …. No..
doc : Well, you are not in Russia now, you should know that.
me : Yes, sir.. (sweat)

Later that day, another doctor..

doc : Ok, so you can see, these are the SLE patient. Do you know what is SLE?
me : Err..
(I haven’t study that before, well, different syllabus laa that time, the thing is I know it now ok!)
doc : Disease name is same everywhere wat.. What they call SLE in Russia?
me : (tembak only laa. since I was in the nephrology ward so I decided to tembak this one)
me : ???????? ??????????????? (yea I said in russian, and it actually means renal failure)
doc : (Looking at me in a way that I dunno how to explain to you here) It’s systemic lupus erythematosus.
me : Errr.. ok ok..
doc : What is the clinical sign? (We were in front of the patient)
me : Errr… (looking at the patient).. Got rashes, bone deformity, errr.. renal problem?
doc : (Showing me the rash) What is this called?
me : (Looking at it so closely.. think for almost a minute) Purpura?
doc : (Looking at me) You better go back and study.
me : (Sweat)…

Later on, yet another doctor, in front of an old woman with end-stage renal failure.

me : (just to strike up a conversation) Errr.. Doctor, what is the treatment for end-stage renal failure since it is already end stage?
doc : What do you think is the treatment for end-stage renal failure?
me : Err.. Kidney transplant?
doc : Do you think an old woman like her is going to accept the transplant without a problem?
me : No.
doc : So why should kidney transplant be your first answer?
me : Err.. dialysis?
doc : (Walked away)

she didn’t answer my question anyway.. -_-’

Above mentioned was some 2 years ago lah.. just for a laugh.. I think I need to clarify that today I know what is SLE. The fact that I went for that posting helps me to be a better student. You can laugh as long as you want but don’t be too long, if not I’m going to overtake you, anytime soon.

chapter 2 :: encounter with fire

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Jan 23, 2008 Under flashback

brief description of my house back den - we moved from kl to one of this single story terrace houses when i was around 5 and ours was the corner lot. and right in front of my house is a field full with semak samun (the size of a football field) with all kinds of creature hiding inside. the grass is tall, and if u r not careful u could easily got cut. and there was a small path, leading down towards the left to another field, twice bigger than the previous one. this field had no grass, more like an abandoned construction site…

there was this one hot afternoon, Ali came over to call me out for ‘cooking session’, like i previously said, we boil water n grass.. sometimes if we were ‘lucky’, we will have few cacing, some insects, caterpillars n… tadpoles! and tat day was indeed our ‘lucky’ day, we went to the site and managed to found some cacings, and tadpoles from the longkang next to my house. i can’t really believe the fact that we actually did tat often but it is true, tat explains why i hate frogs and worms so much now, had enuf of it and even feel geli just by thinking. but something else happened, when i was looking for a can, i picked up a burned piece of wood and my thumb was swollen almost instantly, i yelled, ran home (around 100m away) n stuck my hand into the fridge. well.. tat really killed my mood to continue playing tat day but Ali didn’t want to stop, from the window, i saw him having fun with the other 2 kids living up the hill.

around 8 at night, i heard mum shouting for dad to come out.. i ran outside and saw the whole field and our site burning.. Lol.. ever see a piece of land full with grass burn? well.. imagine urself. everybody at the neighbourhood started asking questions and we just kept quiet.. knowing that Ali and those 2 had probably didn’t take out the fire after they started it.. damn stupid.. and i was grounded at home and kenot talk to Ali for quite sometime, didn’t even manage to join the kampung tanglung parade during moon cake festival n need to study at home! was really pissed…

chapter 1 :: first bond

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Jan 23, 2008 Under flashback

there is this kind of thing which we experience in life, well, maybe here i’ll just refer to ‘me’ as i dun really know what u all feel.. when i was at the age of a kindergarten boy, i tend to enjoy thinking.. it is something greet, because u can think as wild as u want and it doesn’t change a single thing. i would usually make something out of the Lego sets my parents bought, usually into some planes, robots, cars, and just imagine a big war out of it. it sounded kinda stupid but that is the childhood of most guys. and of course, part of it is exhibiting the things i created to friends..

and there was this guy, Ali, i dunno why i call him Ali even thou he is a chinese guy.. that is the name he told me.. tat time i was staying in Ayer hitam, quite a distance from Kluang.. well.. i guess he is the first friend i have in this life (might have others but i considered him the first as i dun remember those before him).. but too bad.. maybe not a very good one..

after knowing him, we had always lepak together.. my mum works in kluang, and dad in Batu Pahat, so i had ample of time to go over to Ali’s house which is just 4 units away from mine (run away from noisy grandma).. is a very challenging way, jump over the fence - run - climb over his house’s gate.. challenging because i was small tat time.. Ali’s house is big, his dad is some business man who i never get to know is what (too young to understand) and we would spend time eating half-boiled eggs.. 4 of them in one time.. and he really tricked me into doing a lot of stupid stuffs, like smelling his wet bed sheet (with his overnight-urine-smell), ate a spoonful of maggie mee with lots of chili padi hidden beneath it, play masak masak (kenot understand that we actually got satisfaction from boiling water by burning grass), bicycle race with this malay guy staying opposite my house until i went flying towards the lamp pose, play kites during rainy days (actually believe that we can become the flashman if we got hit)… everytime when he wants to trick me into doing something stupid, he would use this stupid innocent face, and yet, i fell for it everytime.. damn.. almost everytime..

chapter 4 :: primary bliss

Posted by peanut on Saturday Jun 2, 2007 Under flashback

writing about primary school is a joke, because some of the people r still alive n around me.. but lets try to keep this easy.. well.. i said primary bliss, but actually it is a DISASTER! i never like my primary life.. these are the few reasons.. some onli recently known by my ex-classmates, some didn’t even know about this..

during s.3, when i was balancing myself between 2 tables (for fun, just
swinging) and this girl came towards me and i accidentally kicked her..
i instantly apologized and she said that it is ok.. and what i know
next is, she reported it to the teacher, and i got caned by the
headmaster on my right leg, the same leg i landed that kick on her..
come on.. it was an accident for god sake..

i was a prefect when i was in s.4. well. there is this one day when i was waiting for my mum to come pick me up, i saw those s.6 seniors having a spot check in their classes.. i was curious, so during the tuition class at night that day, i told my friends that i saw those seniors raiding people’s stuffs in the classes (without knowing that would happen the next day), my friend who studied in the next class, told the whole class about it the next day, and so ngam, the spot check took place.. the teacher was curious why they didn’t got anything from that class and pestered my friend to tell him who told them about the news, and my name pop up! at the very same day, before the end of the school, the prefect board held a meeting and i was accused as the betrayer (sitting in the centre of the room), in front of the teacher (who i think is kinda psycho) and the headmaster.. and from tat day onwards, i’m always the betrayer.. i didn’t even knew what to say about it that time, i was small and timid and scared and speechless (the teacher rules by terror, and everybody is scared of him).. well, the teacher really used the word ‘pan tu (betrayer in mandarin)’ so i din create this out myself. now when i think back.. come on.. is he stupid or what, to have 2 different spot check in 2 different day, there are so many eyes.. why it should be me? the next coming year, i was fired from the board.

s.5.. i got a teacher telling me that i’ll be a moron and would not success in my life.. according to him, my fox tail is slowly growing behind my back.. the same teacher made me wipe the doors and windows of the meeting room on the very last day of school before we had break for UPSR. i got 21st position in my class that time so wat. and he said no wonder i wun become anything better because of 21st place? is like offending all those after me. lolz.. he doesn’t see us an individuals, he see me as something that he can manipulate, without thinking what i would think that time..

nah.. not to mention about all the politics and people around the school. but i do have some friends who really stand for me.. just wanna get out of primary so damn fast that i dun see those teachers again. and u wouldn’t even believe it, the disciplinary teacher who mem-betrayer-kan me, came n teach me mandarin when i was form 3 in secondary school.. talking about sheer bad luck!

but today, i guess if i meet any of these people around, i’m going to confront them about all this.. not to prove anything at all.. seriously, but just to make myself happy, because they did all those things, just to make themselves happy too.. talking about vengeance…

chapter 3 :: kiss in the ass

Posted by peanut on Friday Jun 1, 2007 Under flashback

Ch

photo’s caption - childhood heroes!!

i have this nanny that look after me when i entered kindergarten. my favourite question to her is, ‘ who are you?’.. never called her mama, called her auntie all the time. guess the word mum means too much to me to be shared.. she lives around 1km from my house (well, it is actually quite near) and she has 2 son and 1 daughter. one of the son - ah wei (weird, my mum oso calls me ah-wei, and my present

housemate’s mum calls him ah-wei), is actually my classmate in kindergarten. but living with them in the afternoon is rather boring. we would both delivered home by the kindergarten’s van, den bathe, had lunch and would have our afternoon nap. according to her, that is the only way to grow taller besides eating more.. the backyard of their house is yet another abandoned construction site.. lol. ahwei’s father is a bus driver who travels to and fro from kluang to air hitam daily. i even met him once when i was in f.3.. but that was the last time..

so.. what happened here which i remembered until now is, one day when ahwei went toilet to do his big business.. he got licked by a monitor lizard which appear from the hole (lubang tandas crunching style) and he yelled so loud his dad came running to the toilet, pulled him out and this big creature come crawling out from the hole.. yucks! i didn’t get to see the whole scene coz my nanny shoo-ed everybody into the room and closed up the door but the story ends with ahwei’s dad killing that creature with a parang.. and after that.. all the boys in the class can ejek ahwei as the one who is ‘kissed’ by a lizard in the ass. :)
