dinner with kkb

Posted by peanut on Sunday Jun 29, 2008 Under blogin, food log

KKB is their first alphabets of their name all together -lah! First I shall introduce the chefs.

Photobucket

Chef Koshn (I forgot how to spell her surname, damn). She is already all red before dinner. Mabuk konon. Hahaha..

Photobucket

Chef Teh inspecting, checking whether everything is good or not, during her rest from online marathon in my house (I have proof for that, look at the next picture)

Photobucket

See? Hostel has bad internet connection, fully understood your feelings. Use -lah, use-lah. She is still okay, spending time chatting with her dad.

Photobucket

This is ‘bubble’. She is here looking for ‘tong fang shen qi’ wallpapers! OMG! Both of them are die hard fans, they can kill you if you say something bad about their idols. Okay, maybe not kill, they will boycott you.

Now to the end products of a red tomato chef and the TFSQ’s die hard fan.

Photobucket

Chicken steamed with herbs in ‘paper’, as in aluminium foil.

Photobucket

Mixed vege. A fact for everybody, Mouse thinks carrots tasted like worms (so you know he ate worms before) and Koshn thinks carrots taste like soil (hallo, that is really hard to digest).

Sorry for just 2 pictures because the other 2 pictures are blur, sorry for my lack of professionalism in capturing, I was too hungry at that time. Anyway, you can get a glimpse of everything here:

Photobucket

The chicken stir fry with dried chillies, ginger and plum wine by khaier, the mixed vege and chicken wrapped in the foil prepared by koshn and the fish dish with mushrooms and ginger prepared by clarissa aka. housemate (I forced her to do one dish).

It was fun as we had some wine after that and start poking peoples’ backs, clear up some past incidents and bills (you know what I mean) and did some serious ‘laughing at each other’. Woohooo..

Well, good bye… and treat me something better when you get your pay checks! I want Japanese food in London!

No time to entertain her, so she plays with my camera.. Duh…

study’s break menu

Posted by peanut on Friday Jun 20, 2008 Under food log
Photobucket

Don’t-know-when’s dinner menu. Too bad the picture vertical. Sorry, take up a lot of space. Food is important!

Photobucket

Up close of my ‘plov’. Does it make you hungry? Self created using a packet of spice. One packet only -lah.

Photobucket

Jna’s soup with one-month-old-frozen-chicken, mushroom and bloody hell expensive chinese cabbage.

Photobucket

Dark chocolate ice cream.

Photobucket

Jna made breakfast, once in a blue moon/a decade. Oh that’s my bread that I contributed. By the way, breakfast is at 12pm..

Photobucket

Tried to make lo-mee (some noodles with dark soy sauce) but turn out another kind. Nevermind, still tasted okay. Picture taken midnight. My midnight supper.

Photobucket

This morning’s dessert at 1pm. So weird. Icy cold don’t know what long-ngan (mata kuching) tong shui.. uuuUUuuuu..

Photobucket

Me holding the bowl. Taken by Jna who wanted to imitate those people taking food pictures.

I think I eat a lot more during the study break. And I have some small tummy now. Hahhaa. By the way, the post about peanuteosis is fake! (Just in case somebody took it seriously).

Exam : Food

Posted by peanut on Sunday Jun 8, 2008 Under food log

Food that I eat during study break! Due to the influence of top chef, our food has a slight increase in term of the quality of taste, looks, texture and bla bla bla..

Photobucket

My breakfast. Doesn’t look nice but that is what I like. It is a big box of PEANUT BUTTER and a small pack of sweet cheese spread. And you got the bread there.

Photobucket

One of my meals. Macaroni with chicken, bean sprout, crab sticks and etc. Cooks with blended tomatoes.

Photobucket

This one is not my product. My housemate cooked it. Hehe.. Potato fried rice, curry chicken, omelet and some fresh vege. Ok, one picture not enough, as it tasted great, I shall put another one here.

Photobucket

A clearer picture. Hehe. Want some? Lol..
Mum, see, I’m not starved here…

wi’s birthday

Posted by peanut on Sunday May 25, 2008 Under blogin, food log

The oldest (wi) in my house turned 25 yesterday. Despite the fact that they stopped the water supply for some maintenance job, we celebrated with a bit more booze than normal (to cover the water supply la konon).

Okay, turn to top chef tone..

Everybody contributed as this is a team work.

Photobucket

Jna steamed 2 cakes, both coated with Cadbury’s mixed nut chocolates, overnight packet strawberries toppings and colorful sugar toppings.

Photobucket

Left : before the feast
Right : Another of Jna’s dish. This is a Caesar salad. It has fried chicken chunks, olives, dried breads, tomatoes, colorful capsicums and florished with president Fondant cheese.

Photobucket

Here I would like to point out Clarissa’s dishes.

On the left you have Claire’s noodles cooked with crab sticks, red carrots (don’t know how to make carrots sound pro, carrots are red, duh!), mushrooms and black sauce to give it the color and taste.

And then you have Claire’s ham roll. It’s a buttered slice of Harris bread with a slice of ham and shredded carrots, all rolled up and stiffen with aluminium foil and served cold from the freezer.

And up there is one of the 2 pizzas made by Claire. Thin crispy pizza base with butter and minced chicken, olives, tomato sauce and mushrooms topping. And beside it is the ’sambal from Hell’, made with dried chillies, tomato paste, onions and lotsa sugar (but it is still too spicy).

After the introduction, I hope you are happy. And that’s the point! You got to know what they use, how it looks like, but you don’t get to taste it! Haha..

Photobucket

We had 2 guests yesterday. Dung (the one with the mouth pulled) and Huiqian. I guess now we will be waiting for Huiqian’s house warming party instead. Haha.

p/s Well, I didn’t made anything as they are both the executive chefs. I’m just the small worker (sous-chef) helping here and there a little bit and in charged of the booze. We had Funky Juz (it is spelled like that), lime cocktail, 2l plum wine, 2l baltika 7 and something in the middle of all of them (mixed). Lol.

Cheers..

steamsampan

Posted by peanut on Saturday May 10, 2008 Under food log

So many things to blog about. But before I start, allow me to mention that yesterday was actually Victory day. Click the link to find out more if you don’t know about it. And allow me to exclaim something, “Wah, NO people interested in joining my contest!!” Okay, it seems that my friends are not as contest-lover as me. Nevermind. The contest is still on!!

This steam-sampan (steamboat) happened some 2 days ago, sorry to have blog it a bit late but don’t worry, food comes first. Let’s get down to serious business!

Photobucket

Got chicken, small eggs (don’t know what it is called properly), tofu, fish, squid, prawns, fan mushrooms, carrots, cabbage and Tomyam soup as base! Not as lavish as in Msia but this is very good food!

Photobucket

Everybody before starting.. Hehe..

Photobucket

Apa benda ko buat nih? - peanut

Photobucket

Of course gotta show our sponsor here. Jna the Rich.

Sorry about everything! I think I show more people than food. Not to make you too hungry reading this. Haha. This steamboat lasted for some 3 hours only. Not as brutal as the 2 previous ones where we sat there for some 6 hours.. Still got some post-streamboat mood, can only look at good food after few days I guess. Ciao!

p/s : Guss what is this? Certainly not my urine bag!!

p/s2 : sorry.. I wanna change the Google ads to something medical so I’m going to repeat 10 medical words here - medical, medical, medical, medical, medical, medical, medical, medical, I think that’s enough.. Lol!

makan with dentists

Posted by peanut on Sunday May 4, 2008 Under blogin, food log

Eat, eat and eat! Had a small eating session with some of my batch-mates (as in came to this place at the same time). It is not something grand, just that our Malay friend suggested it and I decided to make it happen.

It is a tough job to bring together people of different mentality, language and pace of living. Who is going to pay my phone bill dey?!

We reach his apartment some 1 hour later than we planned and immediately started with defrosting the chickens. Menu of the day - fried chicken (5), salad (after dumping everything to huiqian), sambal and white rice (after thinking that chicken is not enough).

Photobucket

Left - 5 chickens swimming in the hot bath tub.
Right - He always pretend to eat but he doesn’t, not because he is good, it’s because it is HOT.

After few hours of frying (the one that you see up that is the top fryer and as usual the chef that mixed the flour is the mouse.

Photobucket

- Time to eat -

After that it is time to go. I once again demonstrated ultimate authority over my peers or maybe I just accidentally pulled out a mass hypnotizing technic. When I announced that I’m going home, everybody followed! Some tried to resist but I think their brain is still thinking critically but their motor neurons are totally override by my skills (see how great I am uh?). This is the scenario that you get :-

“… Huh? We are going home straight after we eat?…” (while wearing his jacket)
“.. Terus belah lepas makan? Gilaaa…. ” (also while wearing his jacket)

What the heck? If you think me going so early is grossly inappropriate then why follow? You have a brain yourself.. I never remember anything like I was elected the ‘master of puppets‘.

Anyway, before I finish this post, I would like to announce to all people of the world, especially those living in Moscow..

Photobucket

Help me track him down! His action should be recorded 24 hours!! I suspect he is an alien from another galaxy trying to invade our planet!

There are evidence supporting my conclusion:
  1. If you steal his mobile phone and open the inbox, all the messages are written in unknown language. Basically consist of numbers and single alphabets. And everyday he is there sitting and reading them!!?!?!?!
  2. 5 years ago, he always go missing in the morning (when the others are still sleeping) and come back when it is afternoon.
  3. Now, he goes missing for 3 days!! Not going back to hostel and refuse to breathe a word to anybody!
  4. He mumbles a lot. Ok, I think I should use capital letters. A LOT!!!

He should be captured for research, for the greater advantage and development of mankind. =)

EVERYBODY NEED TO PAY ME 100 RUB FIRST AND I’LL DISTRIBUTE BACK TO EVERYBODY! EVERYBODY PLEASE TELL EVERYBODY THIS!

this is what we eat!

Posted by peanut on Saturday Apr 19, 2008 Under as a med student, food log

Warning first. If you haven’t had your breakfast, lunch / dinner, you might want to read other post first. Hahaha..

We had our Immunology cycle and discovered one of the cheapest canteen in Volgo. It is actually situated inside a polyclinic. Give you some hints about its location..

Photobucket

I didn’t intend to let you see the shop’s sign. The polyclinic where I had my class is just along the road (it is the road name that I want to let you see here). Anyway, first time see people print up the word bigger than the road sign -_-’ Good way of advertising thou. The other picture is to show you that the ??????? (piroshki, don’t know what’s it called in English) are made there ‘live’ inside the canteen, instead of being sent there.

Photobucket

Ok now, guess how much is this all. Don’t waste your time -lah. Total 34 rubs only.

Surprised heh? That’s the ?????? (stewed fruit juice), 2 ??????? ? ????? (pasties with meat), ?? (shchi, cabbage soup, in this case with the mayonnaise), ??? ? ??????? (rice with errr.. stew). All for 34 rubles! Find it hard to translate food stuffs. You need to know the name.. Some things just can’t be translated. Haha..

The one here is around almost the same price.. Forget the exact amount but certainly wouldn’t be more than 40 rubles.

Cheap and you get all the typical russian food and you can see the rock hard bread up here too! I still can remember that we can’t really adapt to the bread here, I think if you throw them at someone they would actually get hurt! But now it is like our daily canteen food..

My friend even said that if we move and stay near the polyclinic, each day spent one meal here. It would be some 250 rubs per week only! It is dirt cheap!! Kaka.. I think I’m slowly transforming into somebody very ‘mathematical’.. To volgo people, don’t miss the chance if you are there!

red ALERT!!

Posted by peanut on Thursday Apr 10, 2008 Under as a med student, blogin, characters, food log

Geezz.. never thought my previous post can generate some comments, anyway, thanks for dropping by and leaving some trails on my blog -lah! Recently I had disabled the comments moderating options so that you all can see your comments straight away after you post it instead of waiting for me to online and approve them. Actually this has its own advantage and disadvantage, advantage is, I made my readers more ’syok’ (high) because you can see your comments straight away; disadvantage is that I am now vulnerable to all bad comments! So, please don’t tembak (criticize) me leaving me with thousands of holes, have mercy!!

Photobucket
Spring has come!!

During this time of the year, students like us will usually get a bit lazier as it is getting warmer! Don’t need to wear thick jackets anymore, girls come out with sexy short skirt, guys in short sleeves or shirtless. And usually this is the time that you don’t think about the coming final exam but plan one step ahead for your future - holidays!!!

I already have some stuffs in my mind, this summer holiday I will need to do my practicals in the Kluang hospital, and then learn how to use Wordpress, buy my own domain, start a dot com, learn how to swim professionally (I can swim but kinda not the correct way, it’s called the kampung style), gonna take my bro to McD for breakfast, visit my bro who started his class in TAR, accompany him to buy a computer, meet some friends and blablabla…

But, this is also the time when we are running out of stock!!! What do I mean??

!!!! Red Alert !!!! Ikan bilis cube out of stock! No more Milo and Horlicks! Kicap pekat is long gone since winter!! The dried chili that we brought from Msia is finished! No more udang kering!! No more TOMYAM CUBES!!! (yea.. we don’t have that here, stuffs that we brought from Msia is finishing in a very scary rate).

Well, today I’m in mood to teach you some Mandarin simpulan bahasa.

“????” hua4 bing3 chong1 ji1

Literally it means ‘drawing a biscuit to ease the hunger’. It is very easy to understand. Depends on how you think of it, it can be viewed as a very optimistic way of living, while it can also means that it is a useless action.

And this is what happened during my class today..

Photobucket

recipe in professional disease class!! we are running out of Malaysia’s material to cook, so I think this is just a way of satisfying our not suppressible cravings for good food! Warn you, the chinese recipe there is published by my classmate’s brother-in-law, showing all typical Malaysian chinese food!

Photobucket

there are no difference when you talk about food, guys or girls… grrrrr… I demand nasi lemak! Damn, the wikipedia’s picture for nasi lemak is so damn inviting..

Well.. you can’t see the others there because we have some other things to do! For example..

Photobucket

this is happening exactly opposite the 3 fellas who is busy reading those recipe books. I think you can clearly realize the advantage of getting a wife!

not close enough, you can’t see my anger in the photo.. but I’m sure you will feel what I feel by looking at the pic below… Super ZOOM!!

Photobucket

see? food comes before studies (book under the bread). I want my mum(she gives me money for food in exchange for my freedom. this is the stage that I can sell my freedom for good food back home, thus wanting her… if not.. errrr)!!!

That’s all folks! Just joking around -lah.. We study, we play, we EAT!

p/s : Imagine huimin just blogged this post the very moment I published this post! Grrrr.. I wanna go cook instant noodle now!!

monday blues. russian IN

Posted by peanut on Monday Apr 7, 2008 Under blogin, food log

Woke up around 7 today. That itself should be classified as a BIG achievement. And eating breakfast on Monday morning is yet another BIGGER achievement. Just decided to show you all what a Russian Instant Noodle looks like..

Photobucket

‘Don’t play play’.. This thing cost some 28 rubs.. approximately 4 ringgit / 1 Euro. Eh.. When I put it in Euro it turns out to be less expensive. Haha.. 1 Euro in Germany can only get you a hotdog bun from the hotdog man on the street.. Can’t do much with 1 Euro in Europe I guess.. I personally think that my instant noodle is certainly better than the hotdog bun.. Kekeke.

Have a look inside!

Photobucket

It’s the noodle and the Salsa sauce that make this thing different! Well.. I don’t know they have a lot of ajinamoto or not but I only eat like this once a week… maybe. So I think it is not going to make me bald (alopecia).. Hahaha..

And that bowl of noodle will keep me full until 10am.. And then I’ll (as usual) take some free biscuits from Joshua during recess time (it is more like demanding than taking.. taking sounds too polite).. And in the afternoon, time for some Russian food!

Photobucket

This is some white rice, plus with some unknown tomato sauce (it tastes ok.. and seriously 6 years here I have no idea at all how they prepare that sauce).. and the small brown piece of cutlet actually is double the size that you see here (I ate half way and suddenly have the idea of taking this picture), and the bun with sugar toppings. Simple, not so delicious, not too nutritious but darn EXPENSIVE!! This thing is here is some 38 rubles if not mistaken.. almost 5 ringgit plus! I know Moscow is even worse but who tell you all to study there.. Padan muka!

6 years here and I see their inflation getting worse and worse.. Things that cost 8 rub now become 12 or 15 rub. Bad.. Luckily I have still 1 more year to go :)

Ok ok.. I know this is another lame post (I like my button DIY very much althou it is lame!). But hey, this is a food post for those in Msia to have a glimpse of how our stomach looks like over here!! What do you have for last meal then?
