Volgames 2009 Part 2

Posted by peanut on Monday Apr 27, 2009 Under blogin, cool stuffs, music

Woke up around 10.30am, went to watch handball with Dhani. Didn’t have any sports picture to show. Later on gotta dump Dhani as I gotta go for some rehearsal so that our performance for that night wouldn’t suck.

Officially dumped Dhani at around 1pm and helped move those instruments to the concert hall for the ‘grand dinner’.

Photobucket

All the guitars…..

Went home to wash up, and rush to the hall again. There will be some 14 slots. Quick a lot right? But actually our turn came rather quickly. We are the last to perform.

Photobucket

Show you guys dikir barat first. I like this a lot! The dance with the Dhoom Machale song is very addictive as well. That song kept on playing in my brain until now. Dhoommmmmm *shake shake shake* Machaleee…

Photobucket

Our turn

Photobucket

Subtle kind of medley + cheer + sing along + claps + out of beat + out of tune + tons of fun + can’t hear what I played + absolute havoc + absolute rock. Can’t see from the photos right? Imagine yourself.

We played Nenjukkul Peidhidum, Jay’s Tornado, Pretty ugly’s Diari Seorang Lelaki and Ella’s Standing in the eyes of the world. All in 10 minutes with bridges and etc. Imagine yourself again.

The performances finished really quick and the grand dinner proceed with food not as grand as expected. I didn’t even touch it. Went home, cooked plov at 2am, and slept rather late that day.

Actually I got a lot to say, but I guess now I’m just rushing to report what happened and am not really in the mood to blog about what I think and etc. Still need rest. Tired!

Time for us

The famous Romeo & Juliet song.

Forgive me for my sucky playing up there. The song was in its 3 days old in my hands. I wanted to play this tune when I heard it from the Funeral advertisement that I posted up not long ago.

On the 2nd day after playing it, I thought to myself how could somebody create such a tune which is full of emotion and express it in such a short time (only a bit more than 1 min)?

3rd day I start to wonder what Romeo and Juliet all about anyway. I know they are some characters in some play but I never know the real story.

So I googled :)

Romeo & Juliet, by William Shakespeare

It all started with an on-going feud between the Capulets and the Montagues (2 families), which is creating much havoc in the city of Verona, Italy. They couldn’t seem to get along and arguments always leads to duel and death. Prince Escalus of Verona warned the 2 families to end their feud or else punishment will be given.

Romeo Montague was recently rejected by Rosaline. So his cousin, Benvolio decided to cheer him up and show him that there are other pretty women around (so kind of him) by bringing him to the brothel Capulet feast in disguises (so that the Capulet family members will not notice them and kill them).

At the feast, Romeo met Juliet (daughter of Capulet) and fell in love with her. After the feast (damn fast progress), Romeo sneaks into Capulet’s orchard and both of them proclaim their love for each other. They decided to marry the next afternoon (cepat giler sial).

Romeo then seeks the help of Friar Laurence to marry them, at the same time hoping that their marriage will end the feud between both families.

Later that noon, Tybalt (nephew of Lady Capulet), found out that Romeo was at the Capulet feast and started a fight with him. Romeo’s friend, Mercutio, challenged Tybalt to a duel and was killed by Tybalt. Romeo in response, killed Tybalt, and has to flee Verona as the Prince has exiled him.

Romeo hid in Friar Laurence’s cell, and tried to commit suicide but was stopped by Friar. Laurence convinced Romeo to go see Juliet to say goodbye.

In the next scene, Capulet arranged for Juliet to marry Paris in 3 days. Juliet refused and her father threaten her by disowning her if she doensn’t comply. Juliet went to the friar and he gave her a potion that could fake her death (faking her death for sometime). She went home and agreed to marry Paris. Her father was so happy he moved the wedding earlier by a day.

On the wedding day, nurses found Juliet dead on bed. The news reached Romeo. He doens’t know about the fake death. He then proceeded by buying some poison and returned to Verona. He entered the Capulet tomb and saw Juliet dead. Paris challenged Romeo and was killed by Romeo. AAfter killing Paris, Romeo drank the poison and died. Juliet woke up from her fake death, saw Romeo dead next to her, stabbed herself with Romeo’s sword and died.

Sad story but medically not logic.

Here is the full version of the song.

Life without guitar

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Apr 8, 2009 Under cool stuffs, music

is seriously boring! I know that when the guitar is beside me, I would only play it like 15mins per day but hey, it is still a bit of exercises for the fingers and they wouldn’t forget where to press. A bit of training from time to time make them remember where they are suppose to be. I’m not so much talented to play tunes by ears yet. It is all still hardcore practices.

Now, the fear of forgetting all those tunes that I learned after the 4 without-guitar-coming-month is seriously getting to me. Maybe I should steal some people’s guitar to do some practice. Sigh.

I had my first guitar when I was f.2. Bought a kapok guitar for 70 ringgit, then slowly crafted it and stick lotsa stickers on it, used it until the end of Form 5, then I sold it to KahHeng and bought another small neck acoustic guitar from my friend (again second hand). It cost me some RM170. And 2 years back I bought my first electric guitar with the processor and sold them off late last year with the price of 700 ringgit. And now from 2 guitars, I end up with only one acoustic back at home.

Fingers getting itchy!

Sharing you a small video here! Must watch!

Beautifully imperfect..

Silence is golden

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Mar 17, 2009 Under blogin, music

Suddenly wanted to enjoy this song before I go to class! Hehe..

I want their guitars!

Oh, don’t it hurt deep inside
To see someone do something to her
Oh, don’t it pain to see someone cry
Oh, especially when someone is her

Silence is golden, but my eyes still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

Talking is cheap, people follow like sheep
Even though there is nowhere to go
How could she tell, he deceived her so well
Pity, she’ll be the last one to know

Silence is golden, but my eyes still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

How many times will she fall for his line
Should I tell her or should I keep cool?
And if I tried, I know she’d say I lied
Mind your business, don’t hurt her, you fool

Silence is golden, but my eyes still see
Silence is golden, golden
But my eyes still see

Pre-women’s day post

Posted by peanut on Saturday Mar 7, 2009 Under music

8th of March is indeed a very important day for Russians. But I guess I’ll talk about it later. Let’s see which female stars had caught my attention from these past few months.

1. Cheer

Photobucket

Woohoo. Her voice is weird, her songs are weird, but I think I enjoyed the weirdness. I guess weird = unique. Plus a girl whose voice is so sweet and play acoustic guitar is hard to find nowadays! I don’t really enjoy songs with comtemporary digital sounds and etc. Strumming easy tune definitely caught my attention.

Err. Can’t really see the face in the pic, let me show you another one.

Photobucket

Sweet eh? So far I guess her songs’ meanings are kinda hard to catch. Gotta listen to them few times to know what she was singing about. Personally I like the 失败者的飞翔 and 太聪明. Of course others are nice as well but these 2 are the very first that I enjoyed. Those that know me know that I seldom listen to Chinese songs but I randomly stumbled on somebody’s video (will be in the list as well) on Youtube which lead me to searching for the album of this Taiwanese singer.

2. Lin Zhi-Ling

Photobucket

Another Taiwanese. LOL. Starred in the recent Chinese movie of Red Cliff. I watched both of the episodes for twice already! So far for so many years, I think this is the only movie that could make me wanna watch it for twice intentionally. Even wiki the whole history after that. Although the history is some how distorted in the film, but no doubt it is still a hit. I like the things that they showcase in the movie. It is much more meaningful and culturally rich.

If CaoCao in the movie fought the war because of XiaoQiao, then maybe 50% of the reason why I watched it twice is because of her. LOL! Too bad she doesn’t sing.

3. Yui

Gotta put her in the 3rd place because I don’t understand what she sings. But her music still intrigues me.

Photobucket

New album is up. Haha. Grab it while you can! No regrets!

4. Pyjamas girl

She is the one that lead me to search for that no.1 up there. She is not any big movie star or singer. Another Taiwanese. Why la I’m not studying in Taiwan or what. Gargh! I was mesmerized by her talent. Subscribed to her in Youtube. She update video quite randomly but her voice is really sweet. Even thou I can’t see her face, but it is this kind of mysterious feeling that make her even more attractive. LOL.

That’s my list for now. Enjoy!

Inspiration

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Jan 27, 2009 Under characters, music

Hi, today I’m going to introduce you all my new idol - Sungha Jung! I think he is only 13, what’s so special about him is that he is born with big talent.

Another 300 years to play like him. And his guitar is signed by Thomas Leeb! You know who is Thomas Leeb? Go google it. Haha. Man, even in my dream I wouldn’t dream of playing the guitar like he did. He is officially labeled insane by me.

Anyway, holiday is relaxing. Hehe. A bit of this and that. I don’t really have the CNY mood anyway but hey, for those who are celebrating it, be happy! I wish the next CNY will come pretty fast and before I know it, I’ll be back at home eating homemade cookies.
