ATI radeon HD 3650 512mb

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Nov 5, 2008 Under cool stuffs, tech

AI’m so high now I gotta blog this down. I bought a new graphic card! LOL. Since the day I came backhere, my com’s fan already stop spinning and I gotta fix another small fan on it so that the card would not overheat. Since then, I had experienced -

  1. Laggy computer
  2. Can’t even open more than 7 windows at the taskbar.
  3. If people send a message from MSN, the screen would freeze for a while.
  4. Can’t view more than 10 YouTube videos a day. If yes, the screen black out and restart.
  5. Can’t even watch a movie.
  6. Can’t even play songs while typing stuffs!
  7. Can’t even use Microsoft Media Player properly
  8. Freezes according to its mechanical and electronic brain.

My solutions was:

Photobucket

To put a small fan on the graphic card (which you could see later down there). But the fan is hard to fix since the card is facing down, so I turn the whole CPU upside down and attached the small fan on the card, and another big fan blowing from behind.

Photobucket

Notice the small fan on the black heat sink?

By doing this, my computer black out less. But since there are still some blackouts (like once every 2 days), and I was afraid that it could damage the other parts of the computer, I decided what I’m going to do next.

And I had been wondering whether I should get a graphic card or not since I’m going back soon (not really soon actually, still 8 months to go) but the problem is getting more and more serious and that’s the time when I say, ‘Hell, let’s get a new card!’

The quest of looking for an AGP graphic card is hard in Russia. Most of the shops do not sell them anymore. But thanks to Natasha that helped me asked around her friends, I found this shop which is near 7 Gvardeiskaya.

Photobucket

Tadaaaa! That’s my baby with the gun. 512mb babe! It is 4 times faster than what I’m having now.

Photobucket

Now to mention the heat sink is damn cool. Well, I guess it is their business tactic to sell a card but do not sell the fan! If anything happens to the fan, you will need to get a new one! Well, you can actually get the fan but you would need to buy it from ebay. I did some searching and it is quite troublesome. Plus, it is time for something new. Hehe..

Photobucket

Here comes the new one and the old one. Sayonara reddie.

Results:

  1. The com is not freezing anymore.
  2. I opened some 20 windows just now just to feel syok.
  3. Blasting songs now.
  4. Everything is working perfectly fine.

What to do next:

Pray that it lasts more than 3 years! Pleaseeeee…

What’s a gravatar?

Medical iPod & iTunes

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Oct 14, 2008 Under cool stuffs, tech

It had been sometimes that I have my iPod touch now. Before this, I was slightly disappointed with its function actually. Don’t get me wrong, everything works like how they are suppose to be, but the programs and things that I can do with it is just too limited.

And I had been searching for a way to make the iPod help me with my studies. As you know, it doesn’t have a windows mobile or stuffs like that, putting a medical software in is just impossible.

First I got it unlocked myself, and now, I discovered this!

Photobucket

Medical video podcast on iTunes!

Let you have a bigger look.

Photobucket

Basically you can get all these medical audio podcasts or video podcast from clicking the podcast button on the left bar of the iTunes. Look for ’science & medicine’ and click for medicine.

The video podcast is still a bit limited. But I personally like the radiology topics, it teaches you how to read xrays films, with videos! Kinda like an animated power point slide shows, but slight better.

The other one that I like is the 101 medpodcast (audio). This guy is really creative! He would first disguise his voice into a patient, revealing signs and symptoms, and using his own genuine voice as a doctor. Patient’s examination, diagnostic features and managements will be discussed.

Most of them last for less than 10 minutes.

You can also download some lectures given by the lecturers of US medical school on the topic that you want, just by clicking ‘get’ beside the topic. Easy and free!

Hope you find this review helpful for you iPod/iPhone!

My experience of jail breaking an IPod touch

Posted by peanut on Saturday Sep 6, 2008 Under cool stuffs, tech

After reading lots of complaints about people breaking their iPod during the process of jail break, I stupidly decide to jail break my iPod which I won from a blog competition few months ago. And this post is to record how it is done. While writing this down, I’m actually restoring my iPod for the second time because I finally have some idea what is going on and this time I would do it properly. (The jail break actually cleared all my contacts and information that I saved inside my iPod!)

At first, after browsing the applications that the installer provided during my first jail break, I noticed that most of the apps still run on firmware 1.1.4 and below. So it is best to downgrade or just maintain your firmware if it is already below 1.1.4.

The first thing to do would be getting ready a few programs that you would need along the way. The first one would be the Ziphone GUI latest version which you can get it for free by searching in Google. The second one would be Winscp which functions like a ftp program, which you can also download for free from the net.

After that, things are pretty straight forward. First you open up Ziphone GUI and click Jailbreak (which is the second option on the left) and it would flash your iPod with some white words (which is pretty scary because it looks like things are going crazy) and hopefully the process ends successfully and now you got your first own jail broken iPod!

Photobucket

And you can proceed to the new ‘installer’ icon which suppose to appear on your iPod now and start installing some of the hundreds applications that they offer there.

p/s : You need to do all the above steps with Wifi available. And this is just an amateur’s experience, not showing off!

meebo.com

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Jul 9, 2008 Under cool stuffs, tech

Haha, since I’m greatly grateful for the existence of this website, I would like to write a review about it.

As you all know, my internet is so superbly slow that I can’t even load 2 pages at one time, downloading the new MSN Live messenger is a definitely a big pain in the ass. And they stupidly put this rule that only the latest updated version is allowed to be connected. Well, and thanks to meebo.com that I can finally chat with my friends, without the need of downloading MSN.

Photobucket

The interface is simple and easy to use. It is basically just like any other instant messenger with only the advantage of a messenger without any installation. Even thou part of the background is occupied by some advertisement but I guess I was too happy that I kinda’ ignored it all the time. So, maybe next time when you are really desperate and don’t have any good stable connection around, try meebo.com!

iPod touch (you know I got it now)

Posted by peanut on Wednesday May 28, 2008 Under contest, tech
Photobucket

Refering to my post dated 23 April 2008 OMG! I won!!!, I’m happy to announced that I already got my iPod Touch safely!! Thank you Datepad! Actually it reached Malaysia few days back but I need to wait for my mum to send these pics to me so that I can prove that this is valid. =)

Photobucket

Special thanks to Collin and Shawn, both of them are really friendly and helpful when it comes to this and I actually felt a bit sorry about this as it is really hard to buy something online in Malaysia. But rest assure, sometimes genuine good luck happens and not everything online is scam. If there is a contest, I would say go for it and who knows you might be the lucky one!

Anyway, this is the FIRST time I win something and it is something that I won online! Seriously hope that my youngest brother would not scratch/drop/spoil it before I got home. =)

Photobucket

Well, I felt obligated to tell you guys a bit about datepad.com

Datepad’s mission is to provide enjoyable and exciting dating site for the internet community completely free of charge. They had assembled some really interesting articles about dating, going green, health, relationships and etc. Drop by their blog and check it out! You can click the banner to link to them. Now, you could even become a datepadder and win a $5000 “dream date” too!

Wagg.it

Posted by peanut on Monday May 12, 2008 Under tech

Well, today I’m going to introduce something new to you all. It is a site called ‘Wagg It‘. To make things easy, it is something that could bring you traffic, and the question is, how?

The website is a user driven “social blog content“. It published up posts submitted by waggers (bloggers who joined the site) and categorized it into a few categories. So when you visit wagg.it you will be seeing a series of different posts submitted by different bloggers. By clicking on the titles, you will be directed to that specific post on their blogs. In this case, if you are the wagger, traffic will be directed to your post, provided that you have good interesting content. Fair enough?

Besides that, if you like some of the post posted by other bloggers, you could ‘wagg it‘. Yea.. It is something like giving the post a good vote and the post will be pushed up to get more visibility.

In short, I think that this is a really good chance to promote your blog if you have good and interesting content. I had already sign up to be one of them, so, call me a wagger blogger now. =)

Visit their blog here.

badarticle.com

Posted by peanut on Friday May 2, 2008 Under tech

Yo guys, new tools in the net that I wanna show you all here.. It is called the Badarticle. Basically it is like a article rewriting tool, you write something or paste something into the text book and click ‘rewrite’ and walaaa, a new unique and special article is produced!

(You need to have both IE6+ and Microsoft Word 2003 to run this tool on your computer, oh and the article must be more than 1000 words)

And this is the example, I paste my previous article into the tools..

BEFORE

Asclepius was a Greek hero who later become the Greek god of medicine and healing. The son of Apollo and Coronis, Asclepius had five daughters, Aceso, Iaso, Panacea, Aglaea and Hygieia. The main attribute of Asclepius is a physician’s staff with an Asclepian snake wrapped around it; this is how he was distinguished in the art of healing, and his attribute still survives to this day as the symbol of the modern medical profession.Chiron taught Asclepius the art of healing. According to Pindar (Pythian Odes), Asclepius also acquired the knowledge of surgery, the use of drugs, love potions and incantations.

With these gifts Asclepius exceeded the fringes of human knowledge. However, he offended the great god Zeus by accepting money in exchange for raising the dead. In the eyes of Zeus, Asclepius’ action upset the natural order of the universe - a mere mortal helping man evade death. With one swift action, the great Zeus sent down a thunderbolt killing both men. Realising the good Asclepius had brought to man, the great Zeus made him into a god, placing him among the stars, transforming Asclepius into the constellation Ophiuchus (the serpent-bearer).

AFTER

Realising the good Asclepius had brought to man, the great Zeus made him into a god, insertion him among the stars, transforming Asclepius into the constellation Ophiuchus (the serpent-possessor).

Kinda unique huh? But I think the ‘rewritten article’ is not really easy to read and you need to figure it out a bit or (even better) change some of the words manually (yourself!). And no doubt it would be a better article than the previous one.

If this tool is researched and upgraded with better options (like be able to identify the whole readibility of the sentence instead of just changing single words), no doubt it would make some wonders to boring articles. This might even be tomorrow’s new technology!!

Give it a try, you wouldn’t know how it is until you try it! Rewrite your articles now!

Search and Earn!!

Posted by peanut on Saturday Apr 19, 2008 Under tech

Is this true? Of course. It is possible with Mysearchfunds.com site. It is just the same with Yahoo and etc but this is definitely better as you earn WHILE you search!

It is really convenient for me as I use Firefox and I have this search box on the right up corner which I included some search page like Yahoo, Google, Yandex and even Wikipedia. It saves you time by just typing what you want to search there, click the search engine and walllaaaaa.. there is the result without the need of going to the homepage. Don’t worry about the quality of the result. Now, when you search, the results pop up exactly the same like Google!

I already earn some 1 pound with some 100 search. Remember, this might be small money but I’m doing nothing special other than my daily search activity. In easy Msian words, it is somebody paying you to go toilet. You need to go do ur business everyday right? And imagine now people pay you everytime you go to the toilet. Cool eh?

Plus as a blogger I already have a PayPal account so it is very convenient for me to search and get paid. Haha. Want to join? I put the link down here already.
