Melaka Zoo

Posted by peanut on Saturday Feb 6, 2010 Under blogin, photography, travel

Paid 2 Ringgit for car park, 7 Ringgit for entrance fee, and I’m already in the zoo, ready to shoot headshots.

Basically I think the collections are good. With an emphasize of species of kancils and deers, and surprisingly more tigers than national zoo!

Since my zoo frenzy wasn’t quite over yet, plus I visited the crocodile farm with very close contact to birds and etc, this visit to the zoo didn’t really wow me much.

I went around 4pm, hoping that the animals would wake up from their afternoon nap, but too bad, most of them are still napping. Grrr..

However, have a look at what I’ve got.

Photobucket

The birds collection is good. But I have the fences. The openings are SO SMALL! It is like not bigger than 2cm x 4cm. Too tight lah, and my lens can’t really focus properly. Grrr.

The glass panes aren’t clean properly. Wish large patches of whites which I don’t know is due to what. Making photography a pain in the ass.

Photobucket

And I have to take a pic of this Iguana. Shit. They let it lie around freely at the area where people are suppose to put their hands when they look into the pond to see what is there. I seriously got a fright that the f word almost flew out from my mouth. So damn ugly.

Photobucket

Cute red panda. To balance back that ugly iguana’s aura up there.

Photobucket

Another cute creature.

And I’m happy I capture some of the kings of the forest.

I think I generally like predators more. Hmm :)

A well spent 600 Ringgit for a 55-200mm Tamron right?

Chee family Melaka conquest

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Feb 2, 2010 Under blogin, photography, travel

Sorry for the long hiatus without any post. Had been busy and am happy that I survived my first ortho oncall. It was almost nightmare. Note the word ‘almost’.

Anyway, Cheryl came to visit me last weekend. And me as the 5 month old pseudo malaccan, brought her family and her around this small town.

On the first day, I woke up early and manage to get some morning view of the town, as warm up.

Photobucket

If you are truly melaka people, try to guess where this above pic is taken. Haha.

Photobucket

The entrance to the red town at 8.30am in the morning. Very peaceful and full of those ‘morning’ feel. I don’t know what I’m talking about.

They arrived around noon, and I brought them to Jonker street for some durian chendol and rendang mee at shop no.88. They seem to like the food, those kind of food that I like.

And we had a walk and visiting shops along Jonker street. It was noon, hot, but that was the first time I actually have a look at what they are selling inside those shops (usually just walk by).

Photobucket

Some random paparazzi frenzy.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Brought them to eat Asam Pedas in Kota Laksamana after that. No pictures taken. Was day dreaming :)

The next day, woke up and brought them to You Ee for breakfast. Later on visited A Famosa and those area around that.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Lunch was in Makko. Again, no pics because I was day dreaming. The heat is too much to bear. However, they certainly like that sago dessert with lotsa gula melaka.

Went back for nap, and afternoon, when I was on the way to fetch them out for dinner, I saw this.

Photobucket

Photobucket

So many people playing kites! One day, I will fly mine, with my wishes written on the kite. Hehe. I bought one half a month ago and it is still inside my room, awaiting time for departure.

Sigh.

Dinner was in Portuguese Settlement for seafood.

Pictures before meal.

Later on, went back to Jonker for that Melaka river boat ride!

Photobucket

Photobucket

And said bye bye at the entrance of Jonker street early at night as I have to be oncall the next day :(

Anyway, some shots of that beautiful night, with its big big moon.

Good night!

Waiting for next tour guide experience!

Well hidden from the construction building of Pulau Melaka, this piece of architecture is a nice spot to take pics. I wish I could have a wide angle lens so there are more to it. Usual sunsets would be the time of the day for a nice photo!

Bukit Cina, Melaka

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Jan 26, 2010 Under blogin, photography

If you think that Bukit Cina cemetery is nothing more than a regular eerie place, try to change that idea.

I went there last time, it was in the morning, and it was indeed, quite eerie as there was no sun light. But this time, I venture there during the evening, when a lot of people are having their evening jogs, and even kids cycle up the hills, ignoring all the tomb stones and offerings. With that evening sun, even the tomb stones look warm and benign.

Put these into HDR, because can’t really resist the dramatic sky.

Would one day attempt to climb up there before dawn and see how it is like. I guess besides C4 ward of Melaka hospital, that would be the highest peak in Melaka.

Croc farm

Posted by peanut on Tuesday Jan 26, 2010 Under blogin, photography, travel

Had wanted to visit the Taman Rama-Rama but when I drove all the way there, what I saw was just a construction site. I guess they are still managing. I wonder where is that old Taman Rama-Rama. Anyway, I was quite sceptical about the Taman Buaya actually. It is small, and well, there are lotsa crocodiles but they are all bored, hiding in the shades from the afternoon burning sun.

Photobucket

Air yang tenang, jangan disangka, tiada buaya.

I took loads of buaya/crocodile pics. But I guess not everybody is a fan of crocs. I like the eyes but I don’t really like the whole idea of this creature. They are kinda… well… ugly.

Haha.

And they have a small collections of snakes and lizards.

Photobucket

Nice? Hehe.

And I was surprise to find this big cage in the croc farm with some beautiful parrots, birds and ducks.

Photobucket

Like fake right?

But beautiful ducklings do exist, who would care to be a swan. LOL.

Photobucket

Would like to name this pic the 3 brothers. Very very colorful and cheerful creatures.

They even french kiss, tongued each other..

Photobucket

Of course, some 100 pics were taken. And I think these are some of the nice ones. Enjoy!

1st End Posting Day 1

Posted by peanut on Thursday Jan 7, 2010 Under photography

Woke up today with pouring rain outside. A nice day to just snuggle up and keep myself under the protection of my blanket. Anyway, how long can a HO sleeps? I had been waking up at 5-6am for almost 4 months now and suddenly, it becomes a habit to wake up early.

I woke up, thinking that I’ll make my day full with things that I wanna do.

First, went to search for spare part for my car. The fuel door could not open properly as the spring was not in place. It took me around Melaka town 3 times, 3 different shops, before getting to this really big spare part shop near Jalan Ong Kim Wee. I bought that small piece of metal for RM15.

And after that, I went to snap cemetery. Yes. CEMETERY. Just as what Dr. Karen suggested. LOL.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Those flower which is here and there around that area.

It wasn’t that bad, except that it was really eerie! Wait till you see this.

Photobucket

They are trying to stop the person inside from coming out, or the people outside from going in?!?! I don’t see any purpose in it, which actually means the purpose of building that is something unnatural. LOL.

By the way, this whole hill is called Bukit Cina. Really really big piece of graveyard I would say. The Hang Li Po well is at the foot of the hill. I didn’t snap anything there as the well was pretty… lack of good angles.

Anyway, this is the temple.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And later on when I was walking alone around that area, I found this really spooky house and decided to take a picture of it.

Photobucket

Later on, a bit hungry, decided to go back to Jonker Street for my all time favorite. But I think the shop next door serves better chendol and chicken rendang mee.

Photobucket

In the afternoon, went to search for photo shops that develops black & white films and 120mm medium format films. And guess what, I FOUND IT!! It is RM1.50 per pics. A bit pricey but I’m dying to see what I snapped 4 months back. So, you will be expected real black & white scanned picture from me in 4-5days!

Photobucket

Somewhere near Jalan Bunga Raya.

Photobucket

I like this kind of blend.

Melaka stroll

Posted by peanut on Monday Dec 14, 2009 Under photography

Had a walk alone again :P

Went to the temple in the afternoon. Expected to get some nice pictures there but failed. Temple too small, and quite modern. That day, i was looking for old feel.

It was quite early so need to find a place to fill in my stomach.

A small shop in Jonker walk serves what I had always wanted - durian cendol.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And rendang chicken noodle. Full marks for both of them as I was hungry. Would certainly go back for more.

And later on took a walk to that long long road that melaka has beside the coast new THE EYE.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And caught that very very nice sunset.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I think I had been posting up too many sunset pics. Hehe. Anyway, never get bored of looking at it. Would be good to have a cold beer with me at that time but nevermind lah.. Next time.

No pictures of me because no people is there to take my pics. So damn sad.

Anyway, went to watch Fong Wan after that. Not too bad la. It is not as good but I think it is because a change in style of filming and lotsa effects. One thing for sure is that the female actress are not attractive enuf and the actors are getting old. Not as yeng as they would want it to be. LOL.

SHIT LAH. LENS SUDAH KOTOR.. GRRRRRR

Sunset

Posted by peanut on Wednesday Dec 9, 2009 Under photography

There was a question which is always there since I started staying in Melaka. How come a port city like this doesn’t have a nice beach around, where people stroll and enjoy breeze, where you can witness sunrise or sunset?

When I read about Hang Tuah, Hang Jebat and Hang Li Po (same time line?) or Cheng Ho (I wonder he really came to Malaysia or not), the scene in my brain is always some atap old malay houses by the beach, with beautiful sky in red, orange and blue.

At least, today I have a glimpse of it.

Photobucket

A bit too late. The sun goes down in a matter of seconds. Super fast.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And me lastly :P

Photobucket

Zenit loaded with black and white. Hopefully it will get some nice shots in it. Speculating that this roll would need at least a week to finish. LOL.

I think nowadays a lot of photography post. Other than that life is pretty much the same. Applied for Christmas holiday but don’t know whether it will be approved or not. Short of HOs around I think. Work load increased and so need to find place to release tension. Photography might be one.

Upcoming post will be some pics I took on the bridge going to Pulau Melaka. I went out at 12am midnight just to capture that sight when I saw some pictures on google :P
